What are we learning about this week?:

Our super second graders are excited to be learning reading strategies to become strong, fluent readers.

  • Books: Horace and Morris, but most of all Delores (continued)
  • Spelling: no more spelling words

Things to practice at home: When your child is reading to you, stop them at the end of each page/paragraph and ask them to retell what it was about. Make sure they answer in complete sentences with details.

  • 6/14 Last Day of School; EOT Awards Assembly from 8:30-9:15 and Red Shirt Ceremony from 9:15-10:15am.

Homebase Announcements:

  •  Thank you to Helen's grandma for coming and doing a fun Friday activity last week!
  • We will celebrate our Fathers and Father-like-figures on Tuesday, June 12th from 2:40-3:15pm. We hope you can make it! Please rsvp by going to this link.
  •  The Red Shirt Ceremony is the Last day of school, Thursday, June 14th. Our awards assembly for the third trimester is from 8:30-9:15am, with the Red Shirt Ceremony from 9:15-10:15am. Please send in a labeled Red Shirt for the Ceremony. If they do not have a RA red shirt, please feel free to send in any red shirt. Please make sure it is labeled. If you are planning to attend the Red Shirt or Awards Assembly that day, Please bring me to the sign up.
  • I have been getting a lot of emails about the last day of school and students leaving. Most students leave with their parents after the red shirt ceremony, however this is not a requirement. The rest of the day we normally end up cleaning up around the room and having a relaxing day :) Your child will not miss anything if they leave though!

Classroom General Information

  • Please make sure that you are checking up on the Parent Portal for your child's grades. If your child is missing work, it will also be located there. There were many students who did not turn in the science review sheet last week. Please send it in as soon as possible.
