Star Student of the Week

Congratulations to this week's star student Sadie! Sadie is a really great active listener and is often encouraging others to be too. Sadie tries her hardest when it comes to her school work and helps to encourage others to do their personal best. She is cheerful, kind, and hopeful! Way to go Sadie!

Science/Social Studies:

What are we learning about this week?
We will learn how animals live in different land and water environments, learn about animal adaptations, learn about what animals and plants are extinct, and then complete a "Digging for fossil" activity.

Things to practice at home: When your child is reading to you, stop them at the end of each page/paragraph and ask them to retell what it was about. Make sure they answer in complete sentences with details.

Homebase Announcements:

  • Thank you to all of our fabulous chaperones for Crystal Caves. We couldn't have done it without you!
  • We have a fun Friday this Friday!
  • On Wednesday, October 31st, we will have our Halloween/Fall Celebration. Students should bring their costumes in a separate bag, labeled. It is preferred that they can fit their costume over their uniform, but not necessary. We recommend that students don't bring any of their extra items that they hold that go with their costumes so they don't accidently leave it there. Please remember no weapons. To RSVP to come, please go to: Renaissance Halloween Parade and Party.
  • November 16th is that last day to put in orders for Scholastic Book Orders for this month for November. Our class code is GLT7G. 

Classroom General Information

  • Book It Paper:  This is optional! I will send them home each month. If your child completes it, please send it back in and they will be given a coupon for a free personal pizza at pizza hut.
  • There are no formal Mystery Reader sign ups in first grade. If you are interested in being a mystery reader, I would love to have you! Please reach out! I'm happy to make it work!
