In an effort to bring higher levels of awareness among our county’s 6th – 12th graders to students of ALL abilities, CCIU has partnered with middle schools and high schools across the county for a fun, artistic challenge.

Students were asked to use a provided TOMS shoe template to develop a shoe design that best represents and articulates the awareness, acceptance, and celebration of all abilities. Only one top design per school is to be submitted to CCIU for placement in the 2017 online contest – and Emilia Crow’s design has been selected (see picture at left).

Submitted designs will be featured on the CCIU website and promoted via multiple communication channels. All visitors to the CCIU site between March 27th and 31st, 2017 will be encouraged to vote for their favorite, with the option to donate to CCIU disabilities support programs. The winning design will be brought to life by Kelsey Amy, a custom shoe painter (http://www.shmecustoms.com/) and the winning student artist will be presented the final shoes to keep with associated press coverage.
