Exciting News:

Mrs. Summers has decided to stay home to be with her beautiful, newborn babies as a full-time mom.  Mrs. Barbara Krock, who has been teaching in this classroom during Mrs. Summers' maternity leave, will be taking over this fun classroom.

Mrs. Krock has been teaching at RA in a kindergarten classroom and has taught grades 3, 4, and 5 at RA as well.  Welcome, Mrs. Krock!

This Week in Math:  Topic 5 Subtract with 100 using Strategies 

  This week marks the week we begin subtracting within 100.  This means the students will eventually begin to borrow from the 10s.  We will ease into this just like we did with double-digit addition.

Text Based Comprehension:  Fact and Details

Announcements:  We will begin our week with our new story.  This week is full of activities with singular and plural nouns.  Our story will lead us into a discussion on how consumers and producers interact and how this affects products.  Contractions and author's purpose will be revisited.  Finally, our Story and Spelling Tests will be Monday, November 19.

Spelling Words for the next 5-day cycle (story and spelling tests 11/19): person, nurse, dirt, turn, birth, serve, curb, curl, skirt, purse

This week in Science:

We had a fantastic time completing our projects!  We will complete our unit discusing animal habitats.  When we return from our Thanksgiving break, we will end the unit with an assessment.  This has not been determined yet.
