Exciting News:

Mrs. Summers has decided to stay home to be with her beautiful, newborn babies as a full-time mom.  Mrs. Barbara Krock, who has been teaching in this classroom during Mrs. Summers' maternity leave, will be taking over this fun classroom.

Mrs. Krock has been teaching at RA in a kindergarten classroom and has taught grades 3, 4, and 5 at RA as well.  Welcome, Mrs. Krock!

This week:  Monday we will begin the week with our Topic 7 assessment.  Tuesday we will begin Topic 8 with our opener.  This encompasses reviewing past skills as well as presenting new skills that we will visit during Topic 8.

Our Week at a Glance:      Monday begins with Day 2.  Wednesday we will attempt to take our first Fresh Read at home.  Good Luck!  Just a friendly reminder, when there is a Fresh Read for homework, this will replace the reading log.  Please only complete the Fresh Read.  In the agenda, "FR" is the only thing necessary to confirm it was completed.

This week in Social Studies:  Unit 4: People Long Ago

Monday we will review this unit.  The study guide is also due Monday.    Tuesday, unit 4 assessment will be taken.  Wednesday we will take the Science MAP test.  Thursday marks the day when we begin our new chapter in Science - Earth's Materials.  We will discuss and recognize that the Earth has many natural resources and many different kinds of rocks.

Black History Month Project - Due January 28

An email was sent along with project expectations as well as your choice of a historical figure for the Black History Month Project.

Throughout the month of February we will participate in the following activities:
   -  Students will tour other classroom doors and bulletin boards
   - We will discuss other individuals that were influential
