  • Afghanistan. Kabul is the capital of Afghanistan and is the the city where a majority of the characters in The Kite Runner live.
  • Amir and Baba lived in the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul which is toward the top of the map in the light blue.
  • Now that the Taliban have a lesser role in Kabul, the area called Shirpur has been able to flourish and has become the wealthy area of Kabul. However, most sections of Kabul are still poor and have been unable to flourish as Shirpur has even with foreign aide.
