This course incorporates the elements and principles of design to create functional and non-functional ceramic pieces. Three dimensional forms are produced which stress technical
skills, presentation and individuality. Students learn both basic and advanced ceramicist skills including respect for tools and equipment as well as clean-up. Parallels to art history and contemporary ceramics will be emphasized when appropriate. Be prepared to work and get messy! Worried about getting your nails dirty…this isn’t the course for you!

This course is designed to allow students the opportunity to dabble in a variety of medium in crafts. Students will create sculptures based on historical events, famous literature, and even build something from recycled materials. Weaving on a portable loom allows students to see how fabrics are made. Collage is a medium in which students can express their individual style both on two and three dimensional surfaces. Students are asked to constantly challenge themselves and bring out their creative artistic abilities while exploring a wide range of original projects-this sentence is really rearranged.
