Awards Assemblies

Awards earned at the EOT Awards Assembly:
  • Honors- Students who achieved an 80% or higher in all core classes, including Spanish, earn Honors for the trimester. Please check IC to see if your child has earned this award.
  • High Honors- Students who achieved a 90% or higher in all core classes, including Spanish, will earn High Honors for the trimester. Please check IC to see if your child has earned this award.
  • Subject Awards- Each subject area teacher will choose 1 stand-out student from their class to receive a subject award in that area. A specific e-mail will be sent to you from that teacher letting you know if your child earned that award.
  • Perfect Attendance- Students who have been at school every day, on time and without leaving early, will earn a perfect attendance award.
  • Fine Arts Award- One student per homeroom, who has shown great success in their Fine Arts classes will earn a Fine Arts Award for the trimester. A specific e-mail will be sent to you from the Fine Arts team letting you know if your child earned this award.

Snack Time:

Every student's favorite time of day! We ask that you take your child's health into consideration when packing lunch and snack. Too often, children will eat chips, cookies, and such during their snack time and this does not work in their favor when completing academic tasks! Fruits, nuts, yogurt, granola bars are all great snack ideas!

*Please keep in mind any allergies in your child's classes!


Teacher Pages

Teacher pages will be updated weekly. These pages will include homework assignments, updates specific to your child's class, and attachments. Be sure to check your child's teacher page for each subject area


Achievement:

If you have specific concerns about NWEA/MAP testing or PSSA testing, please contact Mr. Cosme, our Achievement Director, who will be able to walk you through how achievement is an intricate part of our academic setting.  Contact David Cosme, Achievement Director.

Grade Book:

It is the responsibility of families to stay informed about your child's academic progress by checking Skyward consistently. This is where grades are posted. Keep in mind, if you use an app on your phone, sometimes the current information is not the most current due to synchronization. Be sure to click through to get detailed notes provided by the teacher.

Grades are weighted as follows: 
  • 60% = Formal Assessment
  • 40% = Practice & Reinforcement

AIC

The teachers of the Galileo team are excited to be able to offer an opportunity for our students who have grades of 70% or below as a result of missing work or are in need of extra time to complete classwork (at teacher discretion). Academic Intervention Club, or AIC, will be held during recess so that students who are missing homework or classwork may complete the work to receive partial credit.
The teachers will inform the students of the work that needs to be made up, and the students will be supervised by a grade level teacher.
AIC will meet on Tuesdays or Thursdays during recess.
As always, please contact your student's classroom teacher if you have any questions.

SLCs

SLCs take place 3 times during the school year.  While we would love to see all of our students every time, we understand that this is very difficult to schedule.  Galileo teachers recommend that you schedule your SLC with the teacher who teaches the subject in which your student has chosen to make their goal for the semester or the subject in which they need the most encouragement. 






EOT Celebrations

We have three trimesters per academic year and students are motivated to attend our End Of Trimester Celebrations. These celebrations are reserved for students who make positive behavior choices and have not been suspended during the trimester. Students who are ineligible for celebrations are strongly advised to attend school.  Please see the Parent/Student Handbook for more information.

Classroom Celebrations

It is important to make time to celebrate our students because they work so hard and we want school to be a fun place as well! We require our classroom celebrations to be fun, safe, and healthy! If you choose to join us for ANY classroom celebrations, please be sure to RSVP to your child's homeroom teacher. If you have more than one child, you may RSVP to one of your child's teachers and CC the other teacher(s) on the email so we know who is attending!

Field Trips

We love taking our students on field trips and we need your help! If you would like to be a Chaperone, please contact Debbie Messina at debra.messina@rak12.org to make sure you have your clearances. These take a few weeks to process so it's best to complete them now! We would love for you to join us! Please mark your calendar, let your child's Homebase teacher know you plan to attend, and come learn alongside us!

HID Cards:

All students will be receiving a HID Card with their photo ID. These will be on an RA Breakaway lanyard in House Colors. The students will wear these every day as it will be used for checking out books, accessing their lunch account, and general identification for safety purposes. Students will be instructed to wear this at all times and the replacement cost is $2.00 per lanyard and $5.00 for replacement ID Cards.
