Science/Social Studies:

What are we learning about this week?
We will learn the life cycle of a frog, the life cycle of a mouse, and the life cycle of a plant. We will have a Fun Friday on Friday!

Homework:

A Family Science Letter will be sent home 1/16.


Wheeles Math:

What are we learning about this week?
We will be taking our math and science map tests on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday, we will continue to solve 2 step problems. Friday we will end with our usual extension/Math Seed day.

What are we learning about this week?:

Our super second graders are excited to be learning reading strategies to become strong, fluent readers.

  • Books:  Pearl and Wanger; Two Good Friends
  • Grammar: Verbs
  • Spelling: read, easy, seat, wheel, windy, teeth, feel, deep, party, leave, sleep, team (Spelling Quiz will be Friday, January 19th)

Reading Log collected on 1/19.

Things to practice at home: When your child is reading to you, stop them at the end of each page/paragraph and ask them to retell what it was about. Make sure they answer in complete sentences with details.

  • Permission Slips for our field trip to the Crayola Factory were sent home last week and are due on Friday, February 2nd. The trip is on Friday, February 23rd and we are looking for chaperones!   • Map Testing will conclude this week with tests on Tuesday and Wednesday. Child attendance is really important!
  • It was so wonderful to see all of you at SLCs! I really appreciate you taking this time to make your child's education a priority. Thank you so much!

  • Royal Ball: I am one of the co-chairs for the Royal Ball. This is a dance where a student can bring a special adult in their life for a fun night of dancing! This tradition has become one of the most well attended fundraisers at RA. This year, it will be Saturday, February 24th. I am currently looking for donations, volunteers, and sponsors.   • Please make sure that you are checking up on the Parent Portal for your child's grades. If your child is missing work, it will also be located there. There were many students who did not turn in the science review sheet last week. Please send it in as soon as possible.
