Phoenixville, PA - On December 4th, 2015, Renaissance Academy Charter School held their 9th annual performance of “Friday Night Live” (FNL) on the stage of  the new Renaissance Academy campus.   The night included comedy improvisation by the Renaissance Academy comedy troupe, LOL, as well as live music performances by the band, The Odyssey.

Over 250 community members were treated to a fun night of family-friendly entertainment, which was presented in a two team competition, the “Nerds” and the “Geeks”.  There were guest judges who chose which team won each round.  Following the competition, there were a number of awards including the team winner, “Geeks," and the LOL Senior Award, which was presented to Ryan Hartman.

This production was directed by Jenny Leibowitz, Drama Director at the Renaissance Academy who said “This year, we had a record-breaking number of LOL actors that were thrilled to perform for the first time on our brand new stage.  The public, community, and parental support of the show was
incredible!” In addition to heading up the drama department at Renaissance, Mrs. Leibowitz is an accomplished actor, playwright and director.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Temple
University, a Master of Education from Arcadia University, a Master of Arts in Theatre from Villanova University, and is an adjunct professor of theatre at Albright College.

Players in the LOL “TEAM NERDS” included captains, Ryan Hartman and Carrie Baker, along with Niral Bangha, Saige Bradley, Darian Capobianco, Seth Cavanaugh, Emma Coughlin, Collin Crooms, Susannah Cushmore, Daniel Goulding, Spencer Grubb, Noah Lunde, Carson McLaughlin, Luke Poltorak, Ben Rabizadeh, and Alyssa Sharma.

 “TEAM GEEKS” included captains, AJ Hoy and Samantha Gorman, as well as Michael Baran, Liana Block, Autumn Calabrese, Jeffrey Cocci, Joseph Gombarick, Ansh Goyal, Stephen Haring, Alex Hoy, Andrew Hoy, Elizabeth Kerper, Lizzy Klemp, Ronan Mullaney, Rose Newmiller, Alex Waskiewicz, Vera-Michele Workman, and Kevin Zvodar.

Completing the LOL production company were guest judges, Peggy LaGarde, Steven Swan and Alec Cuthbert.  Benjamin Leibowitz was the co-director and production assistant.  Featured band, The Odyssey, included Wyeth Casperite (Vocals), Carson Bispels (Guitar), Alina Dowdalls (Guitar), Jake King (Bass), and Chase Pendleton (Drums).

The Renaissance Academy Drama Department would like to thank all the community members who helped make this such a wonderful evening!  The event was a fundraiser, and all proceeds will benefit future drama department productions.
