PHOENIXVILLE, PA – A great time was had at Renaissance Academy’s first ever Mud Bug Run.  On Saturday, May 17th, 2014, over 115 participants grouped into 51 teams ran, jumped, dug and crawled through the 1.5 mile course which was located on the grounds of the Charlestown Park, Phoenixville, PA.

The course included over a dozen stations, each given names such as “Beatle Crawl”, “Dragonfly Hopper”, “Germy Wormy”, “Pill Bug’s Amazing Maze”, and “Crabby Long Legs”.   Fifth grader, Shane Gleason said that he especially enjoyed the running part of course and his favorite station was the obstacle course. “I’m just really glad I got the chance to do the run.  It was really fun!”  Shane went on to say that he would definitely participate in the Mud Bug Run again next year.

The Mud Bug Run was open to the public and the business sponsors included the All Kinds of Fast, Bounce U, Center Ice, Crown Trophy, Giant Food Markets, Jamie Ducary Photography, Kimberton Whole Foods, New Concepts Med Spa, Oak Dental, Phoenixville Community Health, Planet Fitness, the Pretzel Factory, Produce Junction, Road ID, Rock & Roll Afterschool, Skye Zone, United Real Estate and the Reading Fightin’ Phillies.  The event was a fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting the Renaissance Academy (RA) Development Fund and the RA library.
