Phoenixville, PA – Yesterday on their home field, the Renaissance Academy Lady Nights softball team took on Mercy Vocational, defeating the Monarchs, 27-0. Rayna Markle dominated the plate, pitching a shutout game with 7 strikeouts. While every Lady Knight batter contributed to this huge win, batting highlights included senior, Fiona Kelly and sophomore, Aria Dopwell each hitting a homerun, as well as sophomore, Jamie Lloyd and freshman, Ashlynn Solomon each contributing doubles. This brings the Lady Knights’ 2016 record to 5 wins, 1 loss.

Sophomore, Rayna Markle has been turning in outstanding performances at the plate. This was her fourth shutout of the season. Markle also pitched a shutout on Monday against Barrack Academy which led to a 20-0 victory. She swung big for a home run during that game. The rest of the lineup kept the game going with great hits and smart at bats, including freshman, Arianna Prince who hit a triple and senior, Caroline Adams who added a double.

In addition, on April 14th, Renaissance Academy took on the defending 2015 champions, The Perkiomen School. The Lady Knights beat the Panthers 12 to 1, in 5 innings. Markle pitched the full game and had 7 strikeouts. She also went 3 for 4 at bat. Other notable offensive scorers included Arianna Prince who went 3 for 4; Fiona Kelly who went 4 for 4 and had solid defensive plays at short stop; and senior, Caroline Adams who batted 3 for 4 with 2 steals.

The Lady Knights will look to increase their winning streak on Thursday, April 21st, when they will travel to Pottstown to challenge the West Mont Wings
