Carrie Baker Swings Away for a Kill!

PHOENIXVILLE, PA—Last night, the Renaissance Academy Lady Knights varsity Volleyball team defeated Collegium Charter School in their league season opener, winning the match 3 sets to 0.

After winning the first set 25-7, the RA opponents gained some momentum.  The Knights played fierce to win the second set 25-21, then came from behind to win the third set 26-24.  The match-winning point was an ace served up by sophomore, Catherine Wenger.

Stand-out player of the match was setter, Shannon McGurty who served an impressive 15 aces and added 3 assists to the offense.  Other top Scorers for Renaissance included Carrie Baker who hit 3 kills, served 2 aces, had 1 big block; Laura Peppel added 4 aces of her own; and
 Anna Moretti and Alina McClain each served 3 aces.

The Lady Knights’ next match is today at New Foundations Charter School, Philadelphia, PA.
