Last night, the RA Knights high school baseball team logged in their first league win of the season, defeating Mercy Vocational 6-4.  Jason Vernot was dominant on the mound, pitching all seven innings, throwing nine strike outs and giving up only one earned run.  The offense was a true team effort, as every starter had at least one hit.  Corey Janis added three hits and Devon Wayne had two hits of his own.  Chris McFarland and Jason Vernot each contributed two hits and two RBI’s.  Head Coach, Erik Ness said that he is very excited about this team.  “The Knights will be looking to capitalize on this momentum at their first home game of the season next Monday, April 7th at DeSanno Field (Phoenixville, PA)”.

The middle school baseball team also brought in a big victory last night.  The knights battled hard at their home field, defeating Westmont Christian Academy 8-4.  Ben Carty got the win on the mound after throwing four perfect innings with 8 strikeouts. It wasn’t until the top of the fifth when they broke through and scored. Arianna Prince came in to relieve and shut the door to any late Warrior comeback. The big bats were alive with Ben Dooling hitting 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBIs. Tyler Berry and Daniel Guevin each reached base in all three of their plate appearances, supplying half of the Knight’s runs. Arianna Prince crossed the plate all three times she reached base. She had 4 of the Knights total 14 stolen bases. The middle school Knights next take on the Montgomery School at home on Tuesday, April 8th.  Head Coach, Justin Lass said that he is looking to see his team extend their winning streak to three. “I am truly impress how, in a matter of one year, this team has grown regarding both maturity and skill level.  I am excited to see how far this team can go.”
