Phoenixville, PA – Athletic Director, Kevin Zvorsky is proud to announce that Renaissance Academy senior, Coby Vinson-Ellis of Norristown, PA was recently invited and will be playing in 2 basketball all-star games which will include players from the state of Pennsylvania.

Over the weekend of March 28th, Coby will be participating in the “Pennsylvania vs. Maryland All-Star Game” in Harrisburg, PA which will be played at the Harrisburg Christian School.  On April 6th he will also be playing in the “Big 60 Shootout” at Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, PA.  High School basketball players from all over the state were selected based on their statistics from 2013-2014 basketball season.

Renaissance Varsity Basketball Head Coach, Chad Qureshi said, “Coby has been a player who has come up through the RA basketball program since 7th grade.  He has persevered through hard work and dedication on the court over these last 6 years.  The coaching staff is very proud of him for achieving All-Star status this season.  We want to wish Coby good luck, both at the games and in his future college success.  It is exciting to have one of our own players out there representing Renaissance Academy.”

Coby Vinson-Ellis said that he was excited about this opportunity.  “It feels great to be seen as one of the best, although it doesn’t quite seem real yet.”  Mr. Vinson-Ellis also gives credit to his Renaissance teammates for this selection saying, “I am grateful to the team for putting me into the best situations to be able to qualify for an All-Star selection.”

Of this accomplishment Mr. Zvorsky, who is the Assistant Basketball Coach as well as the Athletic Director, said, “I’ve seen this player make great strides over his basketball career at Renaissance.  It’s great to see his efforts pay off and provide him with this opportunity.”

Coverage of the “Big 60 Shootout” will be streamed live over the internet and posted on YouTube where college basketball scouts and coaches will be watching these young athletes demonstrate their skills.  More information can be found on www.pahoops.org.
