PHOENIXVILLE, PA – The hallways of Renaissance Academy were filled today with the cheers of students and staff as the Lady Knights softball team made their way throughout the school, proudly carrying their 2013 Champion trophy.

On Tuesday, May 14, 2013, the Lady Knights squared off against The Perkiomen School for the Tri-County Independent School League Championship. The team fought hard and defeated the Perkiomen Panthers by a score of 8-4. The Lady Knights finished their regular season with 8 wins and 3 losses. They then went on to beat West Mont Academy in the semi-finals and Perkiomen in the finals.

This Lady Knights team included players Caroline Adams, Anna Algeo, Kelsey Berry, Robin Brown, Sara Correale, Chasity Foley, Lee Ann Hampton, Tory Hampton, Shannon Harper, Alexa Johnson, Fiona Kelly, Morgan Kerper, Shannon McGurty, and Jordi Porter, as well as Head Coach, Virginia Albany and Assistant Coach, Ashley Sanders.

About this championship win, Kevin Zvorsky, Renaissance Athletic Director said, “I am extremely proud of both our coaches and our players. This was a very experienced group of softball players and they knew what they could accomplish and were able to achieve their goal. This is Renaissance Academy’s first Tri-County League Championship and with next year marking the beginning of our full membership into the league, I hope this is just the first of many league championships for our athletic department.”
