Exton, PA -- On Tuesday, June 3, 2014, high school students from the Renaissance Academy Charter School performed a comedy improvisation show for a group of senior citizens at Exton Senior Living, Exton, PA.

The show was directed by Renaissance Academy (RA) junior, Grant Landau-Williams of Glenmoore, PA, who is working with senior citizens for his senior project.  When asked why he chose to focus on senior citizens for his senior project, Landau-Williams said “I chose this senior project because I’ve always appreciated what the elderly have to offer to society and knew that my project was the best way for me to give back and show my gratitude.”

On-stage performers included junior, Andy Kennedy of Spring City, PA; sophomore, Carrie Baker of Norristown, PA; and sophomore, Taylor Grubb of Chester Springs, PA.  The show featured audience participation and was very well-received.  One resident stated “We don’t get to see original shows like this ever.  I didn’t know what to expect, but I was so impressed by the raw talent of these kids.”  The students were thrilled to bring a dose of laughter to such a deserving audience.

RA Drama Department Director, Jenny Shoeman claimed “I was so impressed with Grant’s leadership and dedication to this project.  When he first asked for my assistance, I jumped at the chance to share our comedic talents with the senior community.  It was a valuable experience for all involved, and I was very moved by the appreciation that the residents of Exton Senior Living exhibited for my talented students.”  The drama department hopes to perform more shows like this in the future.
