Reading, PA -- Two Sundays ago marked the 8th straight season that Renaissance Academy Charter School has been the exclusive sponsor of the Reading Fightin’ Phils “Crazy About Reading” program.  During the pre-game festivities at FirstEnergy Stadium, there were a variety of festivities which included a Fightin’ Phil player reading to the crowd, the Crazy Hotdog Vendor up to his usual shenanigans; as well as a Renaissance informational session by our very own Naomi Siedlecki (pictured).  Ms. Siedlecki was also on the field to throw the honorary first pitch of the game.

Anthony Pignetti, Executive Director of Business Development for the Reading Fightin Phils, said that that he always looks forward to the Crazy About Reading games and was pleased with the day.  “This “Crazy About Reading Program” Kickoff Day game had over 8,000 fans in attendance, our biggest day of the year so far.  Without great partners like Renaissance Academy Charter School, it would not be possible to host the many great events that we have here at FirstEnergy Stadium, which reaches over 25,000 local children, families, teachers, and volunteers in our community!”

Earlier this spring during the PSSA Pep Rally, Lower School students were visited by the Fightin’ Phils’ mascot, Screwball and other special guests from the RA sponsored “Crazy About Reading” program.  Students K-4 received a bookmark which is redeemable for the admission to the “Crazy About Reading” games on both Sunday, June 12th and on Sunday, July 1st, 2018.  We still have a limited amount of bookmarks and some extra general admission tickets for the July 1st game.  Please contact Holly Mandia at RA if you are interested.

The game on July 1st should be a great time.  Come early at 4:00 and enjoy a “Crazy About Reading” presentation by a rostered Fightin’ Phils player and the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor himself.  This game day will feature a post-game showing of “The Sandlot” when you can bring a blanket and sit on the field to watch the movie or enjoy it from your seat. The first 2000 entering the game will receive a “Sandlot style”, extended bill cap.   Dogs are also allowed to attend the game and are allowed everywhere, including on the field during the movie.

We hope to see many of our RA families at the park on July 1st!
