RA Students Spell-Tacular at the Annual Rotary Bee

Bee winners, Ajay Ganesh and Abhinav ShrirangPhoenixville, PA – On Saturday, February 9th, students in grades 1-5 participated in the 7th annual Phoenixville Rotary Club Spelling Bee. This all-day event, which was held at Phoenixville Middle School, was open to all elementary schools in the Phoenixville area. The bee was divided into 4 separate divisions; Division I (1st grade), Division II (2nd grade), Division III (3rd grade), and Division IV (comprised of 4th and 5th grade students).

Renaissance Academy (RA) is proud to announce that two RA students placed 1st in their divisions. Ajay Ganesh won Division III and Abhinav Shrirang, 5th grade, won Division IV. Award ceremonies followed each Division Bee. Ajay and Abhinav each received a trophy and a $50 gift card for their their winning achievements.

In addition to the RA winners, there were over 80 top-notch spellers from other local schools in the area.

Virginia Albany, English language Arts teacher and bee representative for Renaissance Academy, once again helped organize the event with the Rotary. “This is a great community event that promotes education and friendly competition among students from all over Phoenixville.”

Rotary International is a not-for-profit corporation, whose main objective is service - in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. The Rotary Club of Phoenixville focuses on developing service projects to support the local community and educational initiatives for the local youth. All proceeds raised from this event will be donated back to the local Phoenixville area community.
