The Board maintains the Mission and Vision, sets policy, and provides leadership. Members have responsibility for the school’s governance and operation from a strategic standpoint and are accountable for legal compliance, financial stewardship, academic performance, and more.

Daniel Rufo, President

Dan Rufo, PresidentDaniel (Dan) Rufo is a resident of the Pottsgrove School District where he lives with his wife, Missy, and daughter, Madison. He has been on the Board of Trustees since 2015 and is currently serving as Board President.

Since 2014, Dan has been employed by the Middle States Association (a worldwide leader in school accreditation and school improvement) and is currently an Associate Vice President of Accreditation.

Prior to his work with MSA, Dan taught at Renaissance Academy for six years in 5th, 6th, and 3rd grades. Dan holds a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a Masters in Strategic and Instructional Leadership and hopes to someday earn his doctorate.

RA will always hold a special place in Dan's heart and he is happy to be a part of its past, present, and future.

Gregory Scott, Vice President

Serving on the RA Board of Trustees since February 2018, Gregory (Greg) Scott resides in the Norristown Area School District. He graduated from Renaissance Academy in 2005, and then earned his Bachelors degree in Business Communications from Chestnut Hill College followed by a Masters of Science in Psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

On December 21, 2015, The Honorable Gregory Scott, was sworn in as a Magisterial District Judge in the 38th Judicial District of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Upon his commission he became the first African-American District Judge in Montgomery County and at 28, the youngest sitting Judge in Pennsylvania.

Greg has been active in the criminal justice system, and has focused his attention on the areas of recidivism and equitable justice. He has also served on various commissions and committees with the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) including Weed & Seed's T.A.L.L. Team and Communities that Care, both PCCD initiatives.

Greg served as a Senior Staffer in the United States Congress and served Kenny Gamble in his non-profit organization, Universal Companies, where he helped managed projects designed to create cultural and entrepreneurial opportunities that break the cycle of generational poverty within historically disenfranchised communities. He is also active in Ministry in the Fellowship and Missions communities, which has led him to travel to places like South Africa and Nicaragua.

Greg serves on the RA Board of Trustees Legislative Awareness and Human Resources Committees. 

Shawn Glick, Treasurer

Shawn Glick resides in Lower Pottsgrove (Pottsgrove School District) with his wife and two sons. His oldest child is in the class of 2023 and his youngest in the class of 2027. Shawn has been involved with Renaissance Academy as a parent and volunteer attending field trips, school events, and participating in WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) since 2010 when his first child joined RA in kindergarten.

Outside of RA, Shawn serves as CFO and Corporate Secretary of a local engineering company. In his current role, he is responsible for the overall management and direction of the firm’s company-wide finances and operations: accounting, human resources, information technology, marketing and facilities. Shawn has spent his entire 22+ year career at his firm.

Shawn is a Certified Design Accountant and graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from Widener University, earned a Post-Baccalaureate degree in Accounting from Ursinus College, and an MBA from Widener University. He is active in the community participating in volunteer activities and serves as a volunteer and committee member of Boy Scout Troop 10, Limerick, PA. In 2018, Shawn was named a CFO of the Year by the Philadelphia Business Journal. Shawn was the winner of the 2015 CFO of the Year Award in the Best Turnaround Specialist category and named one of the 2016 Forty under 40 by the Lehigh Valley Business.

Shawn has been a Trustee since 2016 serving first as a Member At-Large and now as the Treasurer. Shawn is chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the Strategic Planning Committee.

Monica Reynolds, Secretary

Monica Reynolds has been involved with Renaissance Academy as a parent and volunteer since 2015, and a Trustee since 2016. Monica serves as the Secretary to the Board of Trustees and serves, as needed, on the Litigation Committee.

Monica resides in Norristown with her husband, daughter, son and their labradoodle. Her daughter is in RA's class of 2027, and her son is in the class of 2030. Monica and her husband also have 2 older daughters that have begun careers and families outside of the immediate vicinity.

Monica is a partner in a mid-sized law firm in Paoli where she manages the business, real estate and commercial litigation practice that serves as outside 'in-house' counsel to many small and mid-sized local businesses, lenders and members of the real estate industry. Monica has been practicing law since 2000 when she graduated from the Dickinson School of Law. She is admitted to the state bars of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida.

Monica also has served on the Norristown Planning Commission since 2016, which provides advice to the Norristown Municipal Counsel and Zoning Hearing Board with respect to the comprehensive land use planning and existing land use in Norristown. Monica is beginning her second year as the Secretary of that Commission.

Monica spends her free time cheering for her children at their gymnastics meets and basketball games, traveling, doing DIY home projects, and spending time with her family.

Anthony Bragoli, Member at Large

Anthony Bragoli has been a Trustee at the Renaissance Academy for more than 7 years and has previously served as Board Secretary. A resident of Phoenixville Area School district, Mr. Bragoli is currently a member of the RA Board Legislative Awareness Committee. His son is a graduating member of Renaissance Academy’s Class of 2019.

Anthony currently serves as Legal Counsel for a finance company based in Wayne, PA. Prior to his current role,he was Assistant General Counsel to a global manufacturing company located in Malvern, PA and an Associate at Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP (effective April 1, 2020, formerly Pepper Hamilton LLP).

Anthony graduated Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond Virginia in 2001 and received his Juris Doctorate Cum Laude from Villanova University School of Law in 2004.

Prior to furthering his education, Mr. Bragoli served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years as a Reactor Operator on two different fast attack submarines.

Elizabeth Falcone, Member at Large

Elizabeth FalconeElizabeth (Beth) Falcone became a part of the Renaissance Academy community in 2016 when her daughter began kindergarten. She joined the RA Board of Trustees in February 2019 and participates on the HR Committee, Legislative Awareness Committee, and the Strategic Planning Committee.

A graduate of Drexel University, Beth resides in the Phoenixville Area School District with her husband and daughter, a student at RA.

Beth is employed at Vanguard, currently working in Project Management.

Beyond work, Beth enjoys volunteering with the Girl Scouts as Co-Leader of Brownie Troop 41441 and her church’s Scrip Office.

Yvan Francois, Member at Large

Yvan joined the Renaissance Academy Board of Trustees in 2020 and looks forward to serving the community in which he lives. He resides in the Phoenixville area with his wife and four children.

Yvan is currently a Senior Director for Global Training at a Medical Devices Company where he leads a team designing and deploying learning strategies across the globe. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez PR, Yvan earned dual masters degrees in chemical engineering and technology management from Villanova University.

From working for a consulting company to joining the pharmaceutical industry, Yvan has worked in various disciplines with increasing scope of responsibility and leadership in engineering, supply chain and quality in the US and Puerto Rico. He brings an extensive experience in strategy and leading change and a passion for continuous improvement and innovation in the workplace.

Having grown up between Puerto Rico and Haiti he is fluent in English, Spanish and French and brings diversity in his leadership style.

Mark Grenier, Member at Large

Mark GrenierMark Grenier is a resident of Norristown Area School District where he lives with his wife and two daughters, who are both students at Renaissance Academy.

Mark currently works in the Wissahickon School District in the high school's Special Education Department.

A member of the Renaissance Academy Board of Trustees since 2019, Mark is active throughout the school year as a RA volunteer by helping with the annual production of the Nutcracker, assisting with the coordination of the Royal Ball, and heading-up the RA Board game Club.

Kimberly Henken, Member at Large

Kim HenkenKimberly (Kim) Henken joined the Board of Trustees at Renaissance Academy in January of 2020. Kim is a resident of West Norriton Township (Norristown Area School District) where she lives with her husband, Mike, and her two children. Her two children, Dylan and Austin, currently attend Renaissance Academy.

One of Kim’s special interests in education is advocating for children with diverse educational needs, including her son Dylan.

Kim is a Registered Nurse and works in a leadership position in the Quality Improvement department of a local healthcare system. Prior to transitioning into her leadership role in Healthcare, Kim enjoyed working as an Emergency Room nurse for over ten years.

Kim has earned both a Master’s Degree in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

Kim has volunteered as a RA parent on RA Legislative Awareness committee since August 2019, and currently is serving on the Board of Trustees’ Curriculum Committee.

Sujaya Narahari, Member at Large

Sujaya NarahariSujaya Narahari has been a member of the Board of Trustees since Febuary 2019. She has been residing in Phoenixville (Phoenixville School District) since 2012 with her husband and two children. Both of her children are currently students of Renaissance Academy.

She is currently employed as a Senior Technical Lead at a wealth management firm, SEI and has been associated with them for more than 15 years. Sujaya holds a Master’s degree in Computer Applications and a Bachelor’s degree in Sciences majoring in Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics, both from a reputed university in India.

Her educational background from India gives her a different perspective on education, which she hopes will benefit the Board and the school. Having been in the field of information technology for so many years, she is acutely aware of the low percentage of women in the field. She wants to help continue working on improving RA's education program especially focusing on STEM for young women.

Gregory Queen, Member at Large

Gregory QueenGregory (Greg) Queen was born and raised in the Philadelphia Area, attended La Salle College High School, and graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education. He lives in the Pottsgrove School District with his wife and 2 children, one of which is enrolled at Renaissance Academy.

He is currently a VP of Sales at Sales BQ ®, where he analyzes, builds, trains, and manages sales teams. Previously, Greg has over 15 years of sales and management experience in various industries. He has been mentoring and teaching his entire career, having managed teams of people ranging from 2 to 400.

Greg began serving on the RA Board of Trustees in January of 2020. He brings a broad knowledge of Sales, Management, Business, Marketing, and Education to the Board.

William Suriano, Member at Large

William (Bill) SurianoWilliam W. (Bill) Suriano assumes a two year term as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Renaissance Academy Charter School beginning January, 2020. He resides with his wife at the Kimberton Glen Community in Phoenixville. Bill brings to the Board a range of professional experiences as a teacher and school leader from the public schools (K-12) and the university level in New Jersey.

Bill is a retired educator who holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in teacher education and school administration and a Doctorate in Education from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. In his long career of service in the public schools, he has served in numerous administrative positions including the superintendency at the Kindergarten through High School level. He is also an experienced instructor, assistant professor, and co-director of a leadership institute at the university level. Bill has taught undergraduate, masters and doctoral students in a broad range of college courses at well-known universities in New Jersey.

Having served on a variety of volunteer entities, Bill Suriano will also bring an experienced perspective to the Board. He worked as a legislative aide, an elected public school board official, and a county-wide human relations commission chair in NJ. He was an appointed member of the Planning Commission, the Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Bushkill Emergency Corps while living in Middle Smithfield Township, PA.

Dr. Suriano will represent the Board of Trustees on its Curriculum and Legislative Committees. He respectfully accepts his stewardship and enthusiastically looks forward to serving the students, staff and community of the Renaissance Academy Charter School.

Janel A. Work, 

Janel Work, Vice PresidentJanel A. Work resides in Kimberton (Phoenixville Area School District) along with her husband Jonathan; three children, all RA students; and three dogs.

She graduated from Susquehanna University in 2002 with a B.A. in Communications, Theater Arts and Secondary Education. While working in the public school system, she continued her education to complete her M.A. at Villanova in Elementary Education. She also has pursued additional graduate education in ECE from Shippensburg University.

After achieving her degree, Janel has worked as a public school educator as well as both director and owner of two local childcare centers. She has taught at Owen J. Roberts School District, Reading Area School District, and in Montgomery County School System in Maryland. She was also an adjunct professor at Montgomery College, MD.  In 2016 she became the sole owner of Kiddie Academy of Phoenixville, now an NAEYC accredited center with a solid wait list.

Janel is the VP of Board of Trustees member for Renaissance Academy and serves as the chair for their HR Department among other committees. In addition, She has served on the Soroptimist International of Phoenixville’s Board in many capacities, including as former President, for over 10 years. Prior, she has served on many community committees including: advisory boards for TCHS Pickering (since 2011), Tower Health outreach, Keystone Stars advisory committees, Soroptimist North Atlantic Regional chair and many others.

In raising a family, it truly takes a village; Janel does this by modeling the process of working and giving back to the community.
