Renaissance Academy proudly celebrates the outstanding accomplishments of our Cross Country team, whose dedication, teamwork, and spirit were on full display during their journey to the State Championships.
This year's qualifiers included a committed group of athletes who traveled to represent RA: Sophia Garcia Chu (10), Isabelle Garcia Chu (10), Zoe Garcia Chu (9), Lily Hawkins (9), Willow Wright (12), and Team Captain Ava Boyle (12).
A special congratulations go to Sophia Garcia Chu, who was the only runner from Renaissance Academy to qualify at Districts to compete individually at the State Championship meet. Sophia represented RA in the Class A division, racing among 269 athletes in a highly competitive field. Her performance demonstrated resilience, strategy, and steady progression over the 5K (5000 meter) course.
Sophia’s race highlights include:
- 1000 meters: 6:49, position 163
- 1500 meters: 11:17, position 154
- 2000 meters: 14:29, position 134
- 4000 meters: 18:16, position 130
- Finish (5000 meters): 23:02, position 125
Sophia advanced consistently throughout the race, moving up nearly 40 positions from the first checkpoint to the finish line. While Sophia represented Renaissance Academy on the course, her teammates provided the strength, preparation, and support behind her success. Whether they traveled to States or trained by her side, each athlete contributed to the spirit of unity and excellence that defines our community.
Congratulations to Sophia and to the entire Girls Cross Country team on an exceptional season. Your hard work, leadership, and commitment continue to make us proud. Renaissance Academy celebrates you.
The Girls Cross Country team also includes Victoria Gale (12), Isabella Golden (11), Malissa Duong (9), Reagan Lawrence (9), and Julia Gobarick (9). All practiced with Sophia throughout the week, reinforcing the strong, supportive foundation that defines our athletics program. Their commitment reflects what makes RA special: a united, hardworking team focused on uplifting one another.
